Executive Summary: Mallorca (Spain) is at its prime during May–Jun, Sep–Oct. Characterized by sun & slow, reset & restore, it ranks #39 on the Luxe score and is best suited for with the kids and the two of us and the group chat planning a a long weekend or about a week journey.

The feeling

Beyond the resorts, the Tramuntana mountains hide olive groves and fincas. Late spring and early autumn avoid the summer crush.

✺ Your Luxentravel trip

Three days in Mallorca

Three days beyond the resorts, between golden stone villages in the Tramuntana and pine-fringed coves below, with long lunches and a finca to come home to.

Save to My trips
  1. Day 1

    Palma's old town

    Morning

Begin at La Seu, Palma's Gothic cathedral on the waterfront, where morning light pours through the great rose window.

    Afternoon

Wander the shaded lanes and hidden courtyards of the old town, then climb to Bellver Castle, a rare circular fortress above the bay.

    Evening

Drive up into the mountains to your finca for dinner among the olive trees.

  2. Day 2

    Villages of the Tramuntana

    Morning

Visit Valldemossa and the Carthusian monastery where Chopin and George Sand spent a winter.

    Afternoon

Follow the coast road to Deià, the honey-colored village where the poet Robert Graves lived, then continue to Sóller.

    Evening

Ride the old wooden tram from Sóller to its port for a seafood dinner by the harbor.

  3. Day 3

    Coves and canyons

    Morning

Take the dramatic hairpin road down to Sa Calobra and walk into the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis gorge.

    Afternoon

Swim in a quiet cove, or visit the stone village of Fornalutx, often called one of Spain's prettiest.

    Evening

Final dinner on a terrace with views across the valley as the light turns gold.

Where to stay

A finca in the Tramuntana near Deià or Sóller, with easy access to mountains and coast.

Our tip

Drive to Sa Calobra early or take a boat from Port de Sóller; by midday the narrow road fills with coaches.

When

Best May–Jun, Sep–Oct; still lovely Apr, Jul–Aug.
