✺ Your Luxentravel trip

Three days in Provence

Three slow days of hilltop villages, morning markets and long lunches in the shade, timed for the lavender and the golden light that painters loved.

Save to My trips
  1. Day 1

    Villages of the Luberon

    Morning

Visit the Abbaye de Sénanque early, when the lavender rows in front of the abbey are quiet.

    Afternoon

Explore Gordes and its stone lanes, then walk the ochre trail at Roussillon among red and orange cliffs.

    Evening

Dinner on a terrace in Bonnieux or Lourmarin as the light fades over the valley.

  2. Day 2

    Markets and the papal city

    Morning

Find the week's market in a nearby village, or go to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue for antiques and riverside cafés.

    Afternoon

Drive to Avignon to explore the Palais des Papes and the famous broken bridge over the Rhône.

    Evening

Return to your farmhouse for a swim and a simple dinner of local produce and rosé.

  3. Day 3

    Into the Alpilles hills

    Morning

Wander Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, then visit the monastery of Saint-Paul de Mausole, where Van Gogh lived and painted for a year.

    Afternoon

Climb to the ruined castle of Les Baux-de-Provence and taste olive oil from the surrounding groves.

    Evening

A long dinner under the plane trees, with nowhere else to be.

Where to stay

A restored mas or bastide with a pool in the Luberon, within easy reach of the villages.

Our tip

Lavender usually peaks from late June to mid-July, but harvesting can start early; ask locally which fields are still in bloom.

When

Best Jun–Jul, Sep; still lovely May, Oct.
