    Val Gardena and Seceda

    Morning

    Take the cable car from Ortisei to Seceda for the famous ridge of jagged peaks and green meadows.

    Afternoon

    Hike down through the pastures, stopping at a mountain hut for dumplings and apple strudel.

    Evening

    Return to Ortisei for a walk through the village and dinner of South Tyrolean dishes.

  2. Day 2

    Alpe di Siusi

    Morning

    Head to the Alpe di Siusi, Europe's largest high-altitude meadow, walking among wildflowers in summer or skiing gentle runs in winter.

    Afternoon

    Enjoy a long lunch at a rifugio with views of the Sassolungo and Sciliar.

    Evening

    Watch the peaks glow pink at sunset, then dine in a cozy stube.

  3. Day 3

    Tre Cime or the Sella

    Morning

    In summer, drive east for the loop walk around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo; in winter, ski the Sella Ronda circuit.

    Afternoon

    Stop at the lake of Misurina or Lago di Braies on the way back, if time allows.

    Evening

    Last dinner in your valley with a glass of Lagrein and a view of the mountains.

Where to stay

Ortisei in Val Gardena or a village in Alta Badia, both central to lifts and trails.

Our tip

In summer the most famous spots, from Seceda to Braies, are quiet only in the early morning; start before eight.
